TEN COMMANDMENTS OF LITIGATION

If you are, or expect to be, involved in any type of civil lawsuit, or even more importantly, if you are or expect to be the subject of a criminal prosecution, you should take the following steps:
  1. DO NOT talk about your case with anyone.

  2. DO NOT attend any conferences, hearings or meetings concerning your case without first calling a lawyer.

  3. DO NOT sign anything.

  4. DO NOT give any statements, oral or written, to police, investigators, insurance adjustors or anyone else.

  5. DO hire a lawyer immediately, or at the very least consult with a lawyer.

  6. DO refer anyone who requests you to sign anything or who seeks information about your case to your lawyer.

  7. DO call your lawyer immediately if you receive any letters, papers or notices of any kind pertaining to your case.

  8. DO assume that your telephone and computer communications may be subject to electronic eavesdropping.

  9. DO keep your lawyer informed of any developments in your case.

  10. DO call your lawyer if you have any questions regarding your case.
